Vijayakanth, an Indian politician and actor, was a leading figure in Tamil cinema and appeared in over 150 films.

He gained recognition for his role in Vaidehi Kathirunthal and received three Tamil State Film Awards, including the prestigious Kalaimamani.

In addition to winning the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor, he also received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize in 1996.
