Vivah Muhurat 2024
In Hinduism, marriage is considered a very sacred and auspicious karma of life. It is a ceremonial institution where the bride is given by the father to the groom to carry the human existence to its path. Marriage (vivah) serves as a function for procreation and companionship in Hinduism.
From the moment we are born until we pass away, every big event involves religious practice, and marriage plays a significant role in that. The four purusarthas (or purposes of life) in Hinduism are said to be emancipation (moksha), pleasure (kama), wealth (artha), and righteousness (dharma). It is believed that marriage is essential to achieving these objectives. Allowing a husband and wife to fulfill their dharma (karma), having children (procreation), and enjoying life (companionship) are the three main objectives of marriage. There are eight forms of marriage as per Vedas i.e. Brahma, Daiva, Arsh, Prajapatya, Gandharva, Asura, Raksha, Paisacha, and Swyamvara.
There is no specific formula to determine the lucky day and timing for marriage. There have been differing opinions among Hindu priests regarding the factors taken into account when choosing auspicious wedding dates. Thus, the best day and time to get married should only be chosen after carefully weighing all available options.
To calculate the auspicious wedding dates, the first step is to purify the Panchang (Hindu calendar). The purification of the Panchang not only reveals the auspicious days for marriage but also provides favorable timings for the marriage rituals.
The Drik Panchang, based on the Hindu calendar, purifies the Nakshatras, Yogas, and Karanas for all days of the year 2024, thereby offering auspicious days and timings for weddings. According to Hindu religious texts, marriage rituals should not be performed during the times when Venus (Shukra) and Jupiter (Guru) are in conjunction. If you wish to know the days when Venus and Jupiter are in conjunction, please refer to their respective timings. Therefore, the Panchang purification for determining wedding muhurats should be done after excluding the days of Venus and Jupiter's conjunction.
